The greatest part of visiting Washington D.C. is that you can experience all the fabulous museums for free! The Smithsonian American Art museum is one of my personal favorites, located right off of the Gallery Place Chinatown metro station. The museum is opened daily until 7:30 pm. Parking is limited with some street-parking (almost always impossible) and a few public garages nearby. I recommend just hopping on the metro to get there. The must-see pieces: -Edward Hopper's Cape Cod Morning and Ryder's House (One of the greatest American realist painters of all time) -Electronic Superhighway on the third floor (Televisions and bright lights. You can't miss this) -George Washington's portrait. (The national portrait gallery is also housed in this building) -Georgia O'Keefe's Manhattan. Be prepared to walk, the museum is rather large and so many wonderful pieces to see.
