Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards are a National Basketball Association (NBA) team that plays games at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC. Construction of the stadium was completed in 2007 and Wizards games can pack in 20,282 screaming fans. The Wiz were originally formed in Chicago in 1961 but quickly moved to Baltimore in 1963 where they changed their name to the Washington Bullets. The team stayed in Baltimore until 1973 when they moved to Landover, Maryland and played games there until 1997. In ’97 the owner of the team decided to change the name to the Wizards and started anew with the construction of the Verizon Center in DC proper. The Wizards play in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference and have chalked up multiple division titles, conference titles, and an NBA Championship. Notable Wizards include Wes Unseld, Elvin Hayes, Walt Bellamy, Gilbert Arenas, Manute Bol, Gus Johnson, Chris Webber, and John Wall. Wizards’ tickets can be tough to come by, but it’s entirely dependent on the team’s success on the court.

The Wizards are an entertaining team to watch, with John Wall playing - when he's healthy. Other than that, don't get your hopes up. They won't win their division and furthermore they won't make the playoffs. But if you're looking for something to do on a weekday night, going to the Verizon center and watching a game for a couple hours isn't the worst thing to do. Depending on who the Wizards are playing, the game could be interesting but more than likely you'll go for the atmosphere and ease of having plans. Definitely take the metro into the Verizon center, parking is atrocious. Plus, the metro is literally underneath the Verizon center for easy access. Also a good perk for after you've had too many drinks at the game, no need to worry about a ride home or back to your hotel. Ticket prices for Wizard games can be reasonable and range from $40-150 for most games. Obviously they would run a bit higher when the Lakers or Celtics come into town. Hopefully the Wizards will improve with the help of having early draft picks, but it may take several years.

You should ask the Magic 8 Ball...maybe that can help this sad team.

Will the wizards win more than 10 games this year?!
