Georgetown, Washington, DC –
Pizza connoisseurs know that a good pie is nearly equivalent to paradise, and if the line running out the door at Georgetown’s Pizzeria Paradiso is any indication of quality, then people should be prepared for cheesy nirvana.
Located a few blocks past the typical M Street strip, Pizzeria Paradiso is an open-plan, multi-leveled pizza-lover’s paradise. Georgetown students and yuppie couples typically congregate directly in front of the wood-fired oven, where pizza chefs bedecked in white aprons move pizzas in and out of the oven with a wooden paddle.
The pizza selection is varied and ranges from the basic Margherita to a classic Siciliana topped with zucchini, capers, egg plant, and red onion. And though Paradiso has a healthy selection of wine, beer lovers will find themselves in a frothy Shangri-La as the selection ranges from obscure imports on tap like he Hof tenDormaal Winter 13 to Belgian bottled options like the classic Brouwerij Smisje.
Less crowded during the day, the pizzeria gets packed up quickly on weekend nights with daters and pre-clubbers looking to hit the Georgetown nightlife.
Whether it’s called Eden, cloud nine, heaven, or Zion, Pizzeria Paradiso will, for at least a moment, prepare anyone for a gooey and salacious after-life.
