Carter Barron Amphitheatre Makes Summer Worth Celebrating!
InHAIRent B. Apr 22, 2013
My family loves the Carter Barron and many of us have gone there for concerts and other events since our youth. However, what I love about this venue is the fact that every Summer there are a plethera of concerts hosted by The Washington Post. Now the schedule is usually posted online from mid- to late May. In years past, I have registered on the National Parks & Recreation website for an emailed reminder of when the schedule is made available. This series includes something for every person's taste... everything from blues to reggae. There's poetry, dance , jazz... you name it and they probably have it. There are both local and international recording artists that grace the Carter Barron's stage. It is the place where I was first exposed to Grammy nominated recording artist, and DC native, Carolyn Malachi back in 2011. I still love her poetry and vocal stylings to this very day.

In addition, this lovely outdoor amphitheatre has park grounds and grill on the premises and you are allowed to either purchase concessions on site or bring in your own items from outside. The Carter Barron is family friendly and one of the hottest tickets in NW DC during the Summer months. For some, it may even be one of those best-kept secrets waiting to be explored. The trick is knowing how to get the tickets and a good seat once you are inside the park grounds.

If you want to grace the Carter Barron with your presence you must rise early the morning of the event of your choice (check the schedule to select a show), venture downtown in DC to The Washington Post headquarters located on 15th Street NW between L and M streets, stand on line @ roughly 8am or earlier to assure that you get tickets before they run out, and then walk away with a big grin on your face look forward to the evening since you were amongst the early birds to get the worms. What is even greater about getting the tickets is the fact that each person who stands in that early a.m. line can/will receive at least 4 or 5 tickets until they run out. So go ahead! Carry your camp chair and score those tickets for your friends and fam! I'll be celebrating this Summer. See you there!
