The Inauguration of the President of the United States is a ceremony which takes place every four years on January 20 (following an election) to mark the beginning of a new 4-year term of the US President.
The central focus of the day is an inauguration ceremony (which begins at Noon) when the Chief Justice administers the oath to the President, swearing him into office in front of thousands of people on the steps of the US Capitol overlooking the National Mall.
Arguably more important are the dozens of parades, parties, and celebrations that take place throughout Washington, DC to celebrate the new president and newly elected officials. Inauguration 2021 parties and Inaugural balls will be thrown buy all kinds of state and local political organizations as well as some galas organized by the President and Vice President themselves.
2021 Inauguration Parties range from simple bar nights to lavish black tie galas (which require tickets to be obtained in advance) with some even attended by the President and Vice President as well as celebrities, entertainers, and famous politicians.
