Tallyfest Description

Tallyfest - Music Festival in Washington, DC.

Washington, DC is mostly known for its bustling political scene, but as the place where bands like Bad Brains, Thievery Corporation, and Minor Threat blossomed into international sensations, the Federal City is quickly emerging as one of America’s premier music capitals. Since 2011, the DC music blog Sweet Tea Pumpkin Pie (STPP) has celebrated new music in the capital city with the annual Tallyfest.

Every year, over the course of Columbus Day weekend in October, more than 10 DC venues, like Velvet Lounge and Columbia Station, feature concerts from over 200 bands. With five showcase stages during the event, and genres ranging from jazz to indie rock to country, the Tallyfest has an eclectic lineup to match anybody’s tastes. Past performers at the Tallyfest include FUN, sami.the.great, Alexa Wilkinson, The Snowy Owls, Amy K Bormet, and Screen Vinyl Image.

Most performances at Tallyfest are free. But some headlining acts are ticketed, with prices ranging from around $8 to $10. After the Tallyfest, celebrate all your favorite discoveries by dancing until daybreak at the bars and clubs scattered around U Street, Adams Morgan, Cleveland Park, and Shaw in Washington, DC.
