Spooky Movie – The Washington DC International Horror Film Festival is an annual celebration of the sci-fi, horror, and fantasy genres of film held in October in various theaters throughout the DC area. Spanning over a week, Spooky Movie has been described as the premier horror film festival in the world.

Beginning in 2006, Spooky Movie – The Washington DC International Horror Film Festival now screens close to 50 films a year, many of which are picked up for distribution after their screenings. The films are often gruesome, not surprisingly, but it means that usually no one under the age of 17 is permitted without a parent or guardian.
