Every year on the third Saturday in September, California Coastal Cleanup Day is held at hundreds of sites across the state. Tens of thousands of volunteers gather at beaches, lakes, waterways, and more to remove nearly one million pounds of trash and recyclables. Organized by the Ocean Conservancy, it’s the largest volunteer event in California.
