Noir City: San Francisco Film Noir Festival Description

San Francisco's dark and foggy streets have been home to countless film noir classics. To celebrate and preserve the best in the film noir tradition, the Film Noir Foundation puts on the annual Noir City: San Francisco Film Noir Festival. The Noir City festival takes place each year at the historic Castro Theatre in San Francisco. Since 2003, film noir fans have packed the Castro from the end of January through the beginning of February. Proceeds from the festival support the Film Noir Foundation’s preservation efforts throughout the year.

The Noir City: San Francisco Film Noir Festival features screenings of iconic noir films in 35mm as well as world premieres of rarities restored through the efforts of the Film Noir Foundation. The Noir City: San Francisco Film Noir Festival offers film buffs the chance to catch over twenty-five noir films each year. Past noir films featured at the festival include local favorites like The House on Telegraph Hill and restored works like Try and Get Me!

Tickets to the Noir City: San Francisco Film Noir Festival start at around $120 per person for the Noir City Passport. The Passport grants noir fans access to each of the festival’s screenings throughout the week. After catching so many noir classics, step back in time to the gritty 1940s at the Noir City Nightclub, hosted by a popular venue in San Francisco like the Regency Lodge. Access to the Noir City Nightclub costs about $45 per person and includes discounted cocktails and live entertainment.
