Kinetic Steam Works Annual Roll Out Description

Kinetic Steam Works Annual Roll Out - Art Exhibit | Arts Festival in San Francisco.

The annual Kinetic Steam Works Roll Out is an all-day festival in Oakland that promotes steam-powered artifacts and technologies. Since 2009, Kinetic Steam Works, a nonprofit educational arts program, has produced live artistic performances that utilize restored vintage steam engines for an audience of engineers, artists, and steam enthusiasts.

The celebration of steam, art, and community features artists like Spy Emerson, Greg Jones, and Sean Orlando. Past highlighted steam technologies include “Poppy” The Mighty 15 Ton Steam Tractor, the Wicked Water Cannon, and The Gory Pumpkin Guillotine.

The Kinetic Steam Works organization has performed at events like Coachella, Burning Man, and the Edwardian Ball, and has received press from publications like The New York Times and WIRED Magazine.

Each year the festival also features a silent auction, a live musical lineup, and craft vendors. Past performers at the Kinetic Steam Works Roll Out include the Pickled Red Beets.

Kinetic Steam Works requests donations between $10-$100.
