Trastevere, Rome –
Nestled in its own little piazza, Mr. Pucci is a quaint and intimate one-room lounge that offers a quirky alternative to the usual Trastevere nightspots.
The bar’s fanciful furnishings – which include vintage cinema seats connected in rows of four (for outdoor seating), stuffed leather armchairs, Dracula-esque candelabra, and miniature street lights – somehow come together to create a homey, if somewhat bizarre, environment.
That vibe is carried further by the playful and sometimes abrasive waiters who entertain customers with their sharp wit as well as a nightly laser gun show set to the Star Wars theme.
Perhaps because of its offbeat vibe and theatrical touches, Mr. Pucci attracts a devoted clientele from the art and music industries, so patrons just may end up sharing a candelabrum with Rome’s most popular of-the-moment artist or starlet.
Chic, retro in-crowd, mostly late 20s and early 30s.
Staff picks alternate between happy jazz and ambient, eerie underground music.
Aperitivo buffet from 7–9pm.
Beer and wine €4 (€5 with buffet), cocktails and mixed drinks €8.
Casual but quirky.
Busiest on weekends, quiet and relaxed during the week.
