Once an enormous wine cellar, Micca Club has turned the winding passages and tunnels of its underground space into a swanky burlesque and swing dancing club unlike any venue in the city.
An impressive spiral staircase leads impeccably dressed guests down to the maze of brick rooms, which feature the original high vaulted ceilings, arches, and giant pillars.
Changing iridescent lights cast swaths of color on the rather austere modish furnishings of the bar and lounge area and on the huge prints of femme fatales that line the walls.
A reserved seating area comes equipped with TV screens so the stylish patrons can see what’s happening on the burlesque stage that occupies the back of the club, where lingerie-clad ladies perform scandalously titillating shows.
Once the burlesque wraps up, the party gets into full gear as swing dancers pack the retro-lit dance floor to the sounds of big band tunes.
The expansive venue also features two additional bars, an art and photography gallery, and a smoking area where suited cocktail waiters venture from room to room taking orders.
Although there is usually a wait to get in, the sophisticated clientele doesn’t seem to mind – after all, the scene at Micca Club, with its live music, burlesque shows, swing dancing, and unique atmosphere is definitely worth the wait.
