Situated on a charming corner near Piazza Navona, and with Donato Bramante’s famous 16th-century temple tucked off to one side, the ivy-covered Caffè della Pace definitely stands out as a particularly romantic spot in a city full of picturesque nooks and crannies.
The cozy two-room café features a simple décor that recalls a 1920s jazz bar, complete with a small bar, marble countertops, and vintage sofas perfect for intimate conversations on cool winter evenings.
In warmer months, patrons gather under the white umbrellas on the outdoor terrace to sip coffee or cocktails and watch the bustle of people move along the cobblestone street.
To add to the bar’s aesthetic beauty is its equally beautiful and well-heeled clientele that’s all about the bella figura (good image) – and that thinks nothing of getting dressed up and driving across town just to see and be seen at this little neighborhood enclave.
But despite the occasional pretension and the harried service, the overall vibe at Caffè della Pace is still welcoming, and the café itself is ideal for a date, a night out with a few friends, or just an evening of people-watching and socializing with the jet set.
Local and international in-crowd and professionals, mid-20s and up.
Ambient jazz, conversation, and people-watching.
Bar snacks and appetizers.
Menu €4–€15. Beer €5–€7, wine €5.50, cocktails €10, mixed drinks €8.
Stylish and chic during the day, dressy at night.
Potentially good any night, especially in the summer.
