Centro, Rome –
A beer lover’s paradise located on a hidden cobblestone street, Open Baladin Roma offers forty craft beers on tap, over a hundred bottles from Italian microbreweries, and a top-notch selection of regional brews that changes daily.
The centerpiece of the main dining room is the stainless steel bar with its colossal bottle display that extends to the ceiling. During the day, the room is filled with hip families, businessmen, and beer-loving tourists mapping out their route, as young locals head up to the shabby chic lounge upstairs.
While the main room is sleek and modern, the upstairs space resembles more of a cool art student’s living quarters, complete with vintage couches, bright psychedelic paintings, and mounted old-school radios.
Beer isn't the only specialty, as the menu also includes upscale pub fare ranging from gourmet burgers and homemade chips to chicken wings and Caprese salad.
After 9pm, the venue fills up fast with artsy twenty-something locals, middle-aged couples, and down-to-earth professionals sharing their love of beer. Increasingly loud conversation is king, so couples can sneak to the lounge in the basement, which offers a more intimate setting with dark lighting, wood tables, and a smaller bar.
Although guests are likely to wait in line any night after 10pm, Open Baladin Roma promises a casual excursion with friends without the rowdy, raging party vibe. And if gets too busy, they can always buy bottles for the road.
Beer lovers, artsy locals, savvy tourists, laid-back young professionals, older connoisseurs, mid-20s to mid-30s.
