A staple of Rome’s bar scene for over twenty-five years, Miscellanea is a casual and comfortable neighborhood hangout with a loyal following of both local regulars and international students.
In fact, Miscellanea prides itself on taking particular care of study-abroad students, not only by providing a home away from home, but by extending a helping hand to any student in need.
And thanks to the bar’s beloved owner, Mikki, that generosity of spirit and philosophy of “heart and soul before profits” is carried over to just about any customer who finds himself in a tough spot or in need of a meal.
No doubt that it’s also thanks to Mikki – who can usually be found making the rounds of tables to chat with clients – that the atmosphere is always buzzing with activity.
Not much more than a spacious square room with a long bar and large windows – as well as several tables outside with a phenomenal view of the The Pantheon – Miscellanea nonetheless attracts travelers and an older crowd in the early evenings, while a younger student crowd starts to pour in after 10pm for a laid-back night of socializing.
Regulars, international students, and travelers, early 20s to 30s.
