The aptly named Fluid is a trendy wine and cocktail bar where, as the name suggests, it’s all about going with the flow.
The experience starts outside as a water-bubble light show, played on miniature TVs embedded in the bar’s façade, draws a small crowd of curious passersby. Once inside, patrons find themselves hopscotching across a glass-paned floor, which is pressed against dark ink that moves this way and that as it’s displaced by the weight of the crowd.
Rounding out the unique décor are whimsical and illuminated cube-shaped bar stools, a handful of interactive tables featuring the same glass and ink combo, and a motion sensor that translates movements into ripples of water shown on a screen.
While a DJ booth and dance floor promise some late-night action, the real attraction at Fluid is the selection of fabulous drinks. The cocktail list – one of the best in the city – features nine different types of mojitos, ten types of martinis, sixty types of vodka, and a plethora of perfectly blended fresh-fruit drinks like the popular Baileys Banana Colada.
The patrons, who are as trendy as the bar itself, tend to stay within their own groups, but no matter – it’s enough to gather some friends, commandeer one of those nifty tables, and enjoy the Fluid’s cool theme, environment, and entertainment.
