San Lorenzo, Rome –
Thanks to its slightly higher prices and understated décor more typical of Centro than the university district, Ferrazza Wine Bar is often singled out as the anti-San Lorenzo bar.
Clean and modern, the décor consists mostly of racks of bottles separated by region and grape, an appropriate look for an enoteca that clearly prefers to focus on wine and its gastronomic accompaniments – in fact, every one of Ferrazza’s 1,000-plus wines is offered by the glass.
Although this virtually unheard-of service may leave some patrons at a loss, the waiters have a wealth of knowledge and are always willing to make recommendations that complement the equally impressive offerings of the bar-length aperitivo buffet.
With its family-run atmosphere and courteous staff, Ferrazza offers a friendly spot to share good wine with a hip yet easygoing crowd.
Young professionals, mid-20s to late 30s.
Ambient lounge music.
Substantial menu of Italian cheese and meat platters, homemade pasta, fresh salads, and hearty entrées. Complimentary aperitivo buffet with a drink purchase, 6:30–9:30pm.
