Party Earth Le Général Beuret Review

The Scene

Le Général Beuret in Paris’ 15eme is a superhero-themed bar with budget friendly drinks & diner fare. Fly over to this great Paris hangout with Party Earth.

Costumes can be cast aside at Le Général Beuret, a superhero-themed headquarters for budget-friendly fare.

Playfully painted in large blue and red stripes – no doubt an homage to Spiderman, whose visage grips the ceiling – the venue isn’t subtle about its theme. Lampshades are covered in pages from classic comic strips, a big portrait of Wonder Woman peers out from behind the bar, and several framed reproductions of comic book scenes are mounted on the walls.

Even the menus tout a faint illustration of a caped hero, although this one may be unfamiliar to even the most diehard comic nerd, for it is Super Général Beuret himself!

…Who appears to be wearing pajamas.

The grub offered is mostly traditional but slightly French-ified diner fare that includes cheeseburgers, fried eggs, beef carpaccio, and salmon tartare, while drinks include a nice selection of fruity cocktails, a few familiar beers, and a cognac or two for the more refined evil genius.

Given the bistro’s playful air, it’s not unusual to find crowds of scruffy teens and creative college kids, not to mention a few older hipsters who show up to chat with the bartender about Wolverine’s latest story arc.

The place stays pretty relaxed during the week, though Fridays see many cool kids using the venue as a home base for pre-gaming, while Sundays draw red-eyed clans begging for greasy relief from their kryptonite-caliber hangovers.

And Le Général Beuret comes to the rescue, saving Parisian citizens one stomach at a time.

Tip from Emma:

If you want to avoid the teen crowd, skip Beuret in the late afternoons during the week. Also, don’t miss out on the pint and French fries deal for €5 during Happy Hour.

  • Crowd

Adventurous backpackers from the nearby hostel, afterschool high schoolers, hip college kids, comic-loving older hipsters, late teens to early 30s.

  • Entertainment / Music

Apart from the comic décor, gloriously nerdy conversation is king, though a soundtrack of mostly alt-rock gets tuned up later at night.

  • Food / Miscellaneous

Menu of French and American classics including burgers, sandwiches, and salads.

    Sidewalk seating available.

Happy Hour daily 5–8pm, with discounts on beer only, plus a pint with French fries deal for €5.

  • Prices

Grub €4.50–€14. Beer €3–€7, cocktails €7, apéritifs and digestifs €2.50–€9.50.

  • What to Wear / Dress Code

Casual: white t-shirts, jeans, sundresses, flip-flops, sneakers.

  • Hot Nights / When to Go

Fridays and Saturdays to join a lively crowd that comes to eat before heading out to party hard, or any other day to relax with fellow mutants…er…patrons.

  • Close By

Matsuyama (155 Rue Lecourbe) is a nearby Japanese joint, which, while not exactly authentic, has some of the better sushi prices in town.
