It’s pretty hard to miss the theme at Buddha Bar, where flowers and statuettes flank the entrance and the delicate perfume of fragrant Oriental incense teases the air.
But the true experience begins when patrons are confronted by the 40-foot statue of the meditating Buddha that dominates the dining room, and the exhilarating sight of the 100-foot bar adorned with a massive dragon’s head at one end and a spiny tail at the other.
The best seat in the house is undoubtedly in the balcony bar, where chic guests can nibble on sushi while taking in the whole scene of golden glowing candles from a comfortable perch.
On weekends, the venue's energy is amped up when a diverse crowd of international jet-setters dances around the bar to Arabian techno, although its underlying tranquility never totally diminishes.
A harmonious mix of exotic and chic, Buddha Bar makes it easy to find one’s inner-self – especially when that self is drunk on sugary sweet cocktails.
Sophisticated, chic, with money to spare, all ages.
Ambient lounge music on weekdays, live music or DJ on the weekends.
The restaurant serves a limited menu of pricey Asian Fusion cuisine, while more affordable sushi dishes are available at the bar.
Á la carte selections €13–€36, prix fixe lunch €21–€32, sushi €10–€25. Beer €10–€12 ,wine €9+, cocktails €8–€17+, shots €8.
Dressy.
The weekends are the most crowded. Arrive around 10:30pm to get a table.
