Latin Quarter - 5eme, Paris –
Named for the 5th Arrondissement, The Fifth Bar is a tiny Irish pub that offers a little bit of everything to its primarily English-speaking patrons.
The epitome of a dive, the bar’s hodgepodge décor consists of Halloween decorations (all year long) and walls plastered with everything from flags to fine art to beer posters. The basement is set up like a dungeon, complete with a skeleton bearing the sage advice to “Tip the bar staff…I didn’t.”
Plenty of extras tempt patrons to give the venue a try, including beer pong competitions, ever-changing theme nights, live music, sporting events, and the occasional showing of American TV shows and movie classics – not to mention the self-proclaimed “cheapest Happy Hour in Paris.”
Regular pub hounds will argue it’s hard to have a bad time in any Irish pub, and once customers join the other friendly locals, students, and travelers at The Fifth Bar, they’ll probably agree.
Upbeat and chatty students, tourists, travelers, and expats, mostly 20s.
The bartender doubles as the DJ and plays a variety of music.
Happy Hour daily 4–8pm. Mondays are Black Monday with beer pong and drink specials, Tuesdays and Thursdays are student nights.
Beer and cocktails €5–€8.
Casual.
Thursday nights are most crowded.
Au P’tit Grec (66 Rue Mouffetard) next door sells some of the cheapest crêpes in Paris (under €2) and stays open late.
