Party Earth Mix Club Review

The Scene

Mix Club in Paris’ Montparnasse is a big dance club with a huge international student crowd. Come get a little wild in Paris with Party Earth.

Anyone hunting down college-aged clubbers in Paris will routinely find about two thousand of them at Mix Club on Thursdays, when international students get free entry before midnight.

Located at the base of the Montparnasse Tower, this self-described temple to house probably has enough flashing lights to give its pretty and always raucous young regulars a fake tan, with blinding strobes exploding off the ceiling and entire walls of LEDs that definitely put the “electronic” in electronica.

Considering the bar is packed whenever it’s open, it’s not unusual to find lines of eager patrons suffering twenty-minute waits outside, especially before midnight when the cover charge bumps up to €15.

Those who make it inside are met with velvet red carpets and quick access to a large VIP area for the bottle service-inclined, while the plebian party-masses glide down a stairway toward the huge main dance floor.

Smoke clouds, disco balls, elevated platforms, and laser lights promise a high-energy scene, as do the ever-present, ever-lovely house dancers and a regular lineup of international DJs who spin lots of house and techno, Latino mixes, rock, and even some metal depending on the night.

Early arrivals may be able to stake their claims for a section of the floor, but both the music and the crowds usually don’t get going until well after midnight, when Mix Club clearly seeks to recreate a little bit of Ibiza in Montparnasse.

Tip from Lucas:

Look for ‘Erasmus’ on the calendar. For those who don’t know, Erasmus is an EU student exchange program, and the Erasmus Parties refer to international student nights, with free entry before midnight with your student ID.

  • Crowd

Big international presence of college kids, especially on Thursdays, rowdy young clubbers, groups of doe-eyed girls looking to go stag wild, suburban Parisians in town for the night, 18 to late 20s.

  • Entertainment / Music

Music can vary nightly but typically centers around house and electronica, with guest DJs also spinning Latin, rock, and techno mixes.

Gay night normally held once a month.

Some nights 21+; check calendar for schedule.

  • Food / Miscellaneous

No food. Coat check available. Cover charge often waived for ladies.

  • Prices

Cover charge €0–€15, though usually free before midnight for foreign students on Thursdays, and free for ladies all night during select parties; check venue calendar.

    Beer €5, cocktails €8+, shots €3, bottle service €100–€140+.

  • What to Wear / Dress Code

Clubby and dressy: ripped jeans, button-downs, slick t-shirts, short skirts, high heels.

  • Hot Nights / When to Go

Thursdays for the biggest international student scene and free entry for students before midnight, or any other night to go wild in a big Parisian club.

  • Close By

Crêperie Josselin (67 Rue du Montparnasse) is an easy spot to fill up on a few hearty crêpes to help stay hangover free after a night at Mix.

Free champagne and free entry for ladies? Latin music so you feel like you're on vacation? Beautiful lighting and gorgeous staircase so everybody sees you when you make your grand entrance? I loved it!! Reggaeton and salsa and hiphop music. If you are over age 21, though, avoid Thursday nights. I went on a Friday and, sure, you're going to have a few young folk at any club, but there was plenty of room to dance and goof around with friends and the blow-up palm trees. On the website you can find the free pass to print and bring with you. Donde esta el partido? En Mix!!!
Fun Music and Great International Crowd

I strongly recommend checking out Erasmus at Mix on Thursday nights. My friends and I loved coming here to party, dance, and meet TONS of new friends from all over the world. Here's the catch, though: get here early, really early. There were several times when my friends and I would show up at 11:30 and the line would already be over a block long, so we would give up and go to a small bar for a much tamer, much less fun night out. To get in for free with an international ID you must be in the club before midnight. But because the line gets long fast, I would recommend getting there around 11. And yes, once you're in it will be empty and probably not too exciting for an hour or so, but hey, you got in for free and didn't have to wait in a horrifically long line! So take the money you saved on the cover charge and buy yourself a drink while you wait for the club to get crowded, because when it does you'll want to dance all night long!
There's Definitely Better Places in Paris

We came because we heard about the Erasmus nights on here. It sounded like a good deal - we would get in for free and be able to meet other international people. The catch to the Erasmus night was that we had to arrive before midnight, so it was pretty empty for an hour or so. It was fine, though, because we just sat in the back (they did have a lot of seating here, which is always nice if you want to take a break if you get tired). Once it got going, they played a lot of basic popular music and everybody was really into dancing. The dancing space was a bit awkward, though. The main problem I had with the place was the crowd was a little young and the whole sticker thing got a bit old (everybody wore a sticker with their country's flag on it) - "Oh, you're American! I talk English. You from New York? I want go to New York!" After a certain point, we just wanted to dance in peace without someone starting up the same old conversation for what was probably the thousandth time, but I guess that's what you get when you go on the Erasmus night. If you went on another night, I'm sure it would be a completely different experience in terms of the age of the crowd and the type of music they played, because the location was very convenient for public transportation and the set up of the club was really cool as well.
Where can you find someone from Ireland, Argentina, Taiwan, and Paris all in one room?

This club is great for international students. If you can get there before midnight, it's usually free. The music is usually pretty fun and they hand out stickers of your nationality's flag on them- a useful conversation starter. Drinks are a bit expensive but don't pregame too hard or they won't let you in the door. There's also a super convenient night bus station right in front of the club in case you don't want to wait until the metro reopens. They do a lot of theme nights that are fun to dress up for, and because of the super international environment, people are happy to meet others. It can be hit or miss though, I usually have a good time there but there were a couple times where it wasn't so busy.
