Pigalle - 9eme, Paris –
Instantly recognizable by its enormous red marquee, the legendary dance den Le Folie’s Pigalle offers a crazed late-night festival of trance and hardcore techno, lots of go-go girls, striptease shows, and even a tranny night.
The club itself is a bare metal-framed concert venue, but the barrage of loud music, disco lights, and smoke make guests feel like they’ve entered another world. In fact, it’s easy to lose oneself in this frenetic atmosphere and the nightly party always rages on well into the morning.
That’s good, because nobody in the diverse crowd ever seems to want it to end, whether they’re hot girls, hot guys, hot guys dressed as hot girls, or anyone else looking to leave their inhibitions at the door and throw on a pair of dancing shoes.
Le Folie’s Pigalle is a must for anyone in dire need of going a little crazy – all patrons have to do is sidle up below the marquee, take a deep breath, and dive on in.
Energetic night owls, primarily gay men and some women, sometimes dressed in outlandish attire 20s and 30s.
Trance and hardcore techno.
None.
Cover charge €20, includes one drink.
Anything goes.
After 2am on Fridays and Saturdays when the club is most crowded, or for Ladies’ Night on Wednesdays and Transvestite Night on the first Friday of every month.
