Party Earth Stolly's Review

Part pub and part Brit-punk dive tucked away on a modest little side street of the Marais, Stolly’s is a friendly neighborhood bar with just a dash of grit.

Frequented by a largely English-speaking crowd, this easygoing tavern features stone walls, a small terrace, and a random décor that includes a bear statue, a lava lamp, and a Roy Lichtenstein print, but that is hardly the focal point of the place – that spot is reserved for the customers themselves, who create a convivial, hospitable ambiance that makes everyone feel right at home.

During the week, the scruffy and outgoing bartenders serve a special brew called Cheap Blonde to the devoted regulars who gather for pints and rugby matches, while on the weekends a young French crowd fills the place out to create a pleasant mix of people looking for laid-back fun.

Stolly’s isn’t unique and is worlds away from hip, but for patrons just looking to chill with a drink it’s downright special.

Tip from Jonah:

Try Stolly’s on the weekends when it attracts a French but still English-friendly crowd. There’s not much room here, so customers really can’t help but meet new people.

  • Crowd

Young, mostly English-speaking, and completely casual, 20s and 30s.

  • Entertainment / Music

Loud American rock music and patrons who aren’t afraid to sing along, especially by the end of Happy Hour.

  • Food / Miscellaneous

    Happy Hour daily 5–8pm.

  • Prices

    Beer €3.90+. Cheap Blonde €5/pint, €13/pitcher.

  • What to Wear / Dress Code

    Casual.

  • Hot Nights / When to Go

The bar is most crowded on the weekends, especially around 11pm.

Perfect if you feel like getting away from Paris for a night, an expat bar of sorts, I will often start my nights here or on a weekday intend on going for one and then stay until closing time. Try their porcupine cocktail - kinda spicy, a little bit sweet; the perfect amount of piazz to get the night started. Expect to meet anglos of all sorts - plus free wifi and the drinks are cheap. Stolly's isnt refined but what it lacks it glamour, it makes up for with good old fashioned rowdy fun.
A bar for everyone

Casual and scruffy, one of my favorite bars in Paris. Home to ex-pats but with plenty of French, this bar welcomes everyone. Drinks: Reasonable prices. I'd stick to beer as this bar boasts some of the worst bartenders in Paris. Atmosphere: Something for everyone. Relaxed at times and heats up as the night goes on. Music tends to be on the rock & roll side, so dancing has been known to happen, even in the tiny space. Quirks: Cheap Blonde - the cheapest and worst beer in Paris Complaints: Bathroom is literally next to the bar so be considerate to your fellow drinkers!
Happy hour: go go go...

I was recommended this place by friends and so was sure to check it out during my time in Paris. Situated in the cool Bastille area amongst a host of other nice bars, pubs and restaurants, this classically underground understated bar had a really nice feel about it inside. Rough and ready for good times! Good prices and good drinks. The atmosphere in this place is spot-on! A few friends and I visited this place around 6pm for some happy hour madness and it was just that; lots of people and lots of fun. All I can say is... go there! And enjoy.
Everyone is Irish at Stolley's

I met up with some friends here one Saturday night for two reasons: 1) It was an English-speaking bar owned by a group of friendly Irishmen, and 2) cheap beer. What else could an American student with the French-vocabulary of a two-year-old and a tight budget want? The place was quite small, but I enjoyed the intimate, laid-back vibe it had. Out of all the bars I visited while abroad, I certainly remember Stolley's. Twas' a good night lad!
