Tucked inside a luxurious five-star hotel, Le Bar du Plaza Athénée is a chic little hideaway where an international clientele meets for high-end cocktails in swanky surroundings.
Molded wood paneling, delicate chandeliers, and high ceilings recall the art nouveau elegance of the hotel itself, while distinctly modern features like metal and leather stools, high glass tables, and an immense sculpted glass bar illuminated from within give the space a slick, iced-out aesthetic.
Soothing ambient music and blue lighting mark the Blue Hours, the early evenings at Le Bar when an upscale clientele of business people and out-of-towners gathers at low tables in the lounge area to relax over conversation and crazy creative cocktails like the Plaza Colada and Black Mojito.
After 10pm on Thursdays through Saturdays, however, the glass bar begins to glow with vivid red light to mark the Red Hours, and the vibe heats up as DJs take the stage to spin electro rock that brings in young, well-to-do locals and A-listers in full designer garb.
Never a rowdy scene, Le Bar’s sophisticated environment is more conducive to meeting friends for a drink or two and reveling in the white-glove service.
Affluent singles, business people, international jet set, and celebrities, 20s to 40s.
Guest DJs spin electro rock Thursdays through Saturdays after 10pm. Past performances have included musicians such as Pharrell Williams and Martin Solveig. Monthly theme events including masquerade parties, as well as Fashion Week events.
Small plates of French Dim Sum available at the bar and for a full meal, there is a high-end Michelin-rated restaurant next door inside the hotel, which is frequented by a swanky, more mature clientele.
Cover charge €30 Th–Sa. Beer €12+, wine €15+/glass or €72+/bottle, cocktails €23+, champagne €29/glass or €132+/bottle, shots €26+, bottle service €400+.
Designer dresses, Chanel, furs, and Birkin bags for women. Suits for men.
Thursdays through Saturdays for the guest DJs.
If you want to go to a club that’s just as exclusive and intimate with a comparable crowd, make your way to Le Baron (6 Avenue Marceau) for drinks, dancing, and two-way mirrors.
