Pier 40 Information

Pier 40 is a 14-acre pier on the Hudson River that offers a myriad of activities for children, adults, and families, particularly in the summertime. The Pier is part of the larger Hudson River Park, which stretches four miles along the river.

Pier 40 was developed in the late 1990s, and features a variety of attractions for the millions who visit every year. The massive structure houses theaters, playgrounds, tours, sports fields, boathouses, and a variety of other leisure businesses.

During summer months, the pier is the place to go for kayaking on the Hudson, trapeze classes, and walking tours. It’s also where dozens of sports teams practice and play. In addition, the finger pier along the south side of Pier 40 juts out into the Hudson with spectacular views of the Statue of Liberty.

There are several river cruises that depart from Pier 40, both during the day and evening. The pier also has private mooring spaces for boat owners.
