Day at the Races

One of the stops on the Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes is one of the biggest events in Long Island. Once you're there there's pretty much a set order of things for your day. First, you'll either have to drive or take the train to get there. If you're driving there, I suggest bringing a friend who doesn't like to drink because everyone is pregaming ... hard. You will meet a combination of locals looking for an excuse to drink heavily on a Saturday morning while playing cornhole and people who are actually avid horse racing fans. The rest of the people are somewhat degenerate gamblers and are probably already inside betting on every race. Once inside, there is your standard overpriced beer and crap food, and lots of people using the day as an excuse to break out their otherwise unacceptably large hats and ridiculous seersucker pants. If you like gambling, drinking or horses - or like hanging out with people who like the aforementioned things, Belmont Park for the Belmont Stakes is a good place to spend a Saturday afternoon.
