Midtown, New York –
Situated just across the street from the Empire State Building, Legends is a classic sports bar and pub catering to tourists, sports fans, and midtown denizens.
By day, a bustling lunch crowd of local business people and tired travelers with kids in tow settles into the booths up front under the mural of Roman philosophers, or descends to the spacious white-tableclothed dining room in the back where diners enjoy a menu of hearty pub food.
Game nights see an influx of sports fans gathering on stools around the sleek hardwood bar and its flat-screen TVs, while autumn Saturdays bring in the drawling blue-and-yellow-clad fans of the LSU Tigers, since Legends is the school’s unofficial New York gathering spot.
Couples and small groups who prefer to avoid the jock set can hang out on plush leather couches in the more intimate balcony lounge, which offers a bird’s-eye view of the action below.
Busy but laid back most of the week, the venue picks up energy starting on Wednesday nights, when lovers of live band karaoke pile in to sing their favorites, and continuing through the weekend with video DJs and a club scene drawing folks from other boroughs and tourists looking for a night on the town.
Although not a New York hotspot, Legends does offer a classic pub and sports experience in the heart of the city.
Sports fans of all ages on game days, LSU fans on Saturdays, corporate lunchers and tourists on weekdays, and a mix of locals, outer-borough folks, and tourists at night, 20s to 40s.
Live Band Karaoke Jam Wednesdays 7:30–10:30pm. Video DJs spin top hits Thursdays and Fridays with regular DJs on Saturdays. TVs.
Menu includes bar snacks, steaks, seafood, and a weekend brunch with specials from 11am–3pm. Happy Hour daily 4–7pm.
Appetizers $6–$22, salads $8–$14, sandwiches $12–$14, entrées $16–$31, brunch $6–$16. Beer $6–$8, wine $7+/glass or $26+/bottle, cocktails $11.

Jack Demsey’s (36 West 33rd Street) offers more sports and music with a slightly Irish bent.
