East Village, New York –
Situated above downtown hotspot The Cabin Down Below, Black Market offers a gourmand’s take on the ever-popular gastropub.
A décor caught between Parisian bistro and Grandma’s living room awaits the clientele of hard-drinking rock chicks and local rockers who gather at the wraparound bar to fuel up for the night ahead, while burger and cocktail connoisseurs fill up the banquettes in the iris-purple dining room just beyond the subway-tile kitchen island.
Famous for its juicy burgers, the venue also serves up outstanding drink concoctions with names befitting its rock-and-roll spirit, from Ring of Fire to Border Radio.
Flickering candlelight, a collection of antique mirrors, and tables obviously built for two adds a softer touch that makes this burger joint a popular date spot as well.
Given its early closing time, Black Market isn’t much use to after-club partiers looking for late-night grub to stave off the spins – but this delectable eatery is definitely a good pre-party option to help patrons avoid a hangover in the first place.
