Tartan Day on Ellis Island Description

Tartan Day on Ellis Island - Cultural Festival in New York.

Once a year in April, Scottish-American New Yorkers (and many other citizens) celebrate Scotland’s eclectic culture on Tartan Day. One of the best celebrations of Scottish culture in the Big Apple is the annual Tartan Day on Ellis Island.

Tartan Day on Ellis Island takes place rain or shine and boasts Highland dancing, piping and drumming, and a slew of Scottish-themed live performances. Past Tartan Day on Ellis Island performers include groups like The Rampant Lion Pipe Band. Tartan Day on Ellis Island annually sees over 70,000 visitors and 2012’s version was the largest Tartan Day celebration in the entire world.

Tartan Day on Ellis Island is free to attend and guests are encouraged to donate money to help host organization Clan Currie Society fund various beneficial programs and scholarships.
