Dedicated sports fans and singles looking for a pickup scene should head to Rogue, a vast and dimly-lit sports bar offering late-night Happy Hours, simple bar food, and a rambunctious clientele.
A large projection screen and eight flat-screen TVs ensure that no one misses a moment of the games, boxing matches, and UFC fights that bring in hordes of jocks for some rowdy celebration, while a lively patio and nightly drink specials keep the after-work contingent coming back for more.
Those in the mood for a bite to eat and some heated sports talk can settle in at the dimly-lit tables, though the real action is at the long bar where outer-borough partiers and local young professionals meet and mingle over neon martinis.
Things get louder as the screens turn to music videos and a DJ spinning tunes from the balcony transforms Rogue from a testosterone-fueled sports bar to a hopping singles scene that lasts until the wee hours.
Sports fans, young professionals, former jocks, singles, and outer-borough types, 20s to 30s.
Projection screen and eight flat-screen TVs tuned to sports. DJs spin W–Sa 7pm–1am with Top 40 tunes and music videos on most nights.
Menu features burgers, wraps, and nachos. Brunch Sa–Su 11am–3pm. Happy Hour M–F 5–8pm, Sa–Su noon–8pm.
Appetizers $6–$25, salads $8–$13, sandwiches $10–$14, entrées $14–$24, brunch $10–$12. Beer $6, wine $7–$10/glass or $25/bottle, cocktails $8, martinis $11.
Casual with a trendy twist. Jeans, t-shirts, button-downs.
Any Friday or Saturday night or for the rowdy UFC fight nights. Saturday and Sunday during the day for more sports.
The Ainsworth (122 West 26th Street) is a more upscale sports bar just down the street.
