Schwabing, Munich –
Tijuana Café is a Mexican restaurant and bar that gives way to two spacious outdoor patios where umbrella-covered tables, tiki huts, tropical plants, and very tall palm trees create a peaceful yet festive atmosphere.
Located in the heart of Schwabing near the University of Munich, the joint draws a young, stylish crowd looking for a good time. And though the restaurant’s décor features the requisite cacti and fake snakes, the clientele makes up for the kitsch by producing an outgoing and upbeat atmosphere that can be hard to resist.
Groups of well-dressed patrons pile in for the early evening Happy Hour – which always features real tortilla chips, fruity margaritas, and loud conversation – then wander outside to the urban oasis for a bit of flirting among the trees.
In fact, well-placed space heaters make the terrace suitable even on cooler nights, so as long as it’s not raining, guests should grab a table outside and relax in the candlelit glow of Tijuana Café’s lush, tropical setting.
Outgoing customers of all ages during the day, mostly mid-20s to 30s at night.
Hip-hop, R&B, and charts in the evening, upbeat international music after 10pm.
Menu of Spanish and Mexican dishes. All-you-can-eat fajitas buffet on Sundays. Happy Hour M all night, 5–8pm Tu–Su.
Menu €4.50–€12. Beer €3.20+, cocktails €6.50–€8, margaritas and daiquiris €22/pitcher.
Casual to smart casual.
Mondays are good for Happy Hour prices, but the place really buzzes with a fun young crowd on the weekends. Visitors can expect a sizable crowd at all hours.
