Party Earth Review Incredibly popular, and intensely dedicated to serving Paulaner beer, Wirtshaus Zur Brez’n has the look and feel of a typical Bavarian beer hall, but on a slightly smaller scale. It’s not too hard to find German restaurants in Munich. The streets literally smell of bratwurst and sauerkraut. Plus, when one thinks of German grub, it’s usually the Bavarian style of food they have in mind.
An internationally recognized Munich restaurant that serves traditional fare is the Michelin-rated Zum Franziskaner in Maxvorstadt, where one can dine along with sausage connoisseurs on Leberkäse, Weisswurst, and other specialties in its interior courtyard.
Close by, opposite the Bavarian State Opera, is the Spatenhaus an der Oper. The small German restaurant is located in an old townhouse, and serves both regional and local food on the first floor, and international cuisine on the second floor.
Then there is the iconic Hofbräuhaus, where tourists and locals pack together at tables to drink steins full of beer and eat local Bavarian favorites like duck, chicken, schnitzel, and sausage in a historic building.
If all else fails, there is plenty of street food with a distinct local flavor that can be had on the run between bars or monuments. Guten Appetit!
