Ampere Information

Ampere - Concert Venue in Munich.

Opened in 2004, Ampere is a nightclub located next to the Isar River in the Muffatwerk complex in Munich’s Au-Haidhausen district. The Muffatwerk consists of the Muffathalle, a concert venue, and the Ampere nightclub.

The Muffatwerk was built in 1837 as a water pumping station for the neighborhood of Haidhausen. In 1973 the station was closed down, and by 1992 the buildings had been refurbished into a multicultural center.

As of today, the old hydropower building houses the Muffathalle, and the old boiler house, built in the Greek Revival style, accommodates the Ampere nightclub.

Concerts at Ampere nightclub have included performances by Billy Bragg, The Black Seeds, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Adam Cohen, and the John Spencer Blues Explosion.

Capacity at the medium-sized Ampere nightclub is around 500 people.
