Situated right in the center of Gran Vía, De Las Letras Hotel and Restaurante is a four-star hotel with a lovely modern lounge where projected lights cast a soft blue glow and ambient music creates a hip environment for the stylish guests.
The real treat at Las Letras, however, is El Ático, a rooftop terrace accessible through the elevators located just past reception. The panoramic view of the elaborate architecture and spires of Gran Vía and downtown Madrid provides a spectacular backdrop for patrons eager to escape the sounds of the bustling city streets below.
A small bar, intimate tables, and a spacious gazebo furnished with cushy sofas provide plenty of space for the well-dressed clientele of young professionals to mingle.
Light music, scattered flowers, and a decidedly cosmopolitan vibe at De Las Letras add up to an ideal spot for a romantic date, a gathering of friends, and cheerful conversation.
The roof terrace has an amazing view of the city and provides the perfect place to sip a cocktail – especially at sunset. The view of the sun setting over the tops of all the old buildings of Gran Vía is breathtaking. Check it out during the warmer months for a few drinks before going to dinner.
Chic and sophisticated, 25 to 35.
DJs spin light background music on the weekdays, more animated beats on the weekends.
Full restaurant downstairs.
Cocktails €7–€12.
Sleek and stylish.
Like most terraces, the roof at Hotel de Las Letras is only open during the summer. The lounge is quieter on weekdays, which is a good thing for those who need some down time. Otherwise, weekends are most crowded.
