Anyone who still isn’t convinced that Spanish nightlife rivals that of any other country on the continent should head to Space of Sound. After a weekend of nonstop clubbing, the apparently nuclear-powered madrileños prove their reputation as world-class partiers by packing into this mega-club starting at 4pm every Sunday.
The waves of people who straggle in are the worn and bleary-eyed clubbers who have spent all weekend dancing as well as those who are just looking for one more outing with their friends before the weekend is over.
The enormous industrial warehouse features a stage where internationally acclaimed DJs put a 40,000-watt sound system to the test as a light show of strobes and lasers illuminates the space and dancers take the stage to entertain the crowd with everything from go-go to ballet – exhibitions that inevitably shift into explosive dance moves set to monster house beats.
The result is sensory overload, turning the traditional day of rest into one of the edgiest, most unforgettable clubbing experiences possible.
Although packed to the rafters, Space of Sound is so big that revelers will never feel claustrophobic.
Just when you thought Madrid’s clubbers couldn’t party any more, you step into Space of Sound and see how seriously Spain takes its nightlife – or in this case, afternoon life. Though it may be hard to drag yourself into one more club to close the weekend, it’s unlikely you will ever find another place like this, so it’s definitely worth checking out.
