Many beer drinkers agree that Spanish beer pales in comparison to other European brews, so beer lovers who find themselves grimacing at the selection of national drafts should head over to Naturbier. A German-style beer hall, this bar creates its natural brews, both regular and toasted, at its on-site brewery.
Patrons can hang out at the two bars upstairs, but then they’d miss out on the most unique thing about Naturbier – the downstairs maze of gothic dungeon rooms where the roar of conversation bounces off the ancient walls as guests sit at tables featuring huge spouts and multiple taps, one for each seat, that allow patrons to relegate their own intake.
On warm days, there’s nothing more relaxing than taking a beer and joining the boisterous crowd stationed at tables out in the Plaza de Santa Ana, but at night the action at Naturbier is all indoors as customers – old and young, old-school and trendy – bounce to upbeat music and the enthusiastic cries of “Salud!” fill the air.
Vibrant and sociable, 20s to 40s.
Big-screen TV downstairs showing football, rugby, and other sports.
Tapas and an extensive menu that includes steaks and paella.
Tapas €2–€3, platters €12, entrées €18+, grilled steaks €16. Beer €2/pitcher or €4/double pitcher, wine €4, mixed drinks €4.80. Prices are higher at the outdoor tables.
Casual.
Weekends around 10pm.
