Located in the heart of the historical neighborhood of La Latina, El Viajero is a three-story bar and restaurant that attracts a predominantly stylish young crowd.
The first two floors, each with its own full-service bar, provide ample space for the sea of attractive patrons that mingle to a background of playful conversation and laughter.
A variety of contemporary abstract art, plants, and tall glass-top tables make up much of the décor, while low sofas and plush chairs with funky upholstery provide a place for the smartly dressed clientele to relax, chat, and flirt.
Before the sun dips below the horizon, the bar is illuminated by several large windows that offer a lovely view of the hustle and bustle on the cobblestone streets below, but the best view is from the rooftop terrace on the third floor where plants and trees create a refreshing atmosphere in which to take a breather.
Anyone in need of a break from the stony, old-world taverns of La Latina should try El Viajero, a classy, modern place with a lively vibe perfect for whiling away the hours.
There’s no need to shy away from the rooftop terrace even on hot summer days. Several mist machines occasionally spritz moisture into the air, which actually makes staying on the roof more comfortable than standing with the clusters of people downstairs – and besides, the view of the Plaza is so much better from up there!
Fashionable and flirty madrileños, many metrosexuals and gay men, 20s to early 30s.
A mix of 80s and 90s pop with the occasional bossa nova or jazz tune.
Mediterranean cuisine.
Lunch menu €12. Drinks €4–€8.
