While drinking is not allowed at this sandy haven, that’s not a problem for partiers, who can hit up a variety bars along nearby streets. This seaside spot features volleyball courts, surfing, sailing, and exquisite (and sometimes romantic) views of the coast.

Hands down best beach in LA
Leah B. Jul 25, 2013
I travel a lot. I see a lot of places and have been to countless beaches; but Manhattan Beach is by far a "must see". Its eclectic persona makes it easy and comfortable for everyone to feel welcome and at home. From surfing, to beach volleyball, to skateboarding and bicycles...there is quite literally something for everyone. Rated the cleanest beach in the greater Los Angeles area, Manhattan Beach is a wonderful get away that you can feel safe and great about!!
There is more...

In California, the beach is always a go to but, in L.A. Manhattan beach was necessary. On a recent visit to Torrance, my friends & I felt the need to get out and see the ocean with my wallet and taxi driver I was soon accommodated and brought to this relaxing place. With the vast view of the ocean and places like Wahoo's Fish Taco nearby, I was able to relax and enjoy the fresh air, sandy beach and, glorious view. If you can, take pictures on, near, and around the pier (we did) and take advantage of the beach volleyball set up. I honestly can't wait to go back.
Photoshoot anyone?

This beach is a pretty chill place to go to. It offers a variety things you can do like play volleyball. Pick one of its many volleyball friends and enjoy a game with your friends. It has a beautiful pier that you can watch the sunset from. The great thing about this beach is that it is not crowded. Another great thing is you can take great pictures under the pier. If you time and angle it right, they can come out looking professionally taken. If you like surfing, you can do that here as well. One thing I love is walking around the beach, and checking out the beautiful houses along the boardwalk.
Good beach!

Manhattan beach is a really nice beach. I went sometime in the evening and stayed for the sunset. By far this is one of the best places to see the sunset. If you ever go make sure you see the sunset. The beach was sort of crowded but not overwhelming. I loved the time I had there. If I had to compare this beach to the rest of the so-cal beaches I have been to this beach would be one of the top picks. There is another plus about this beach, which is the ability to play volleyball. The volleyball nets there are a perfect place to have fun and make new friends.
Great All-Around Beach

This beach has everything from volleyball courts, a nice pier, good food, and great waves. Come here during the summer months during the US Open of Surfing and watch some of the greatest surfers from around the world compete, and listen to some great bands at the outdoor concerts afterwards. Also make sure to check out the surrounding area for cool restaurants, shops, and entertainment. Manhattan beach is a really fun place and it is usually pretty crowded. Look up parking before you go so you don't end up paying a small fortune just to park. Check out the pier, and make sure to stay for sunset.
AMAZING sunset

I love this beach! its super clean and its a nice place to watch the sunset. They don't have any bonfire pits at this beach which i think is a good thing because over time it starts to make beaches dirty from people not disposing of their trash properly. The beach is walking distance to a majority of stores and restaurants so its always crowded and festive! if you want to take a long walk you can even choose to walk to its neighboring beach, Hermosa Beach, There are a lot people here working out or bicycling so its a great place to work out. The only downside to coming here is the parking, on the weekends on a summer day can often get very packed and street parking is also scarce so i suggest coming here a bit early to ensure you get great parking! They also have a parking structure, but it isn't that big and you have to pay money into the parking meters. So bring coins! (:

If you’re looking for the perfect place to immerse yourself in the Southern California beach vibe, you’ll definitely find just that strolling down Manhattan Beach Blvd. Not only can you spend a classic day at the beach, it also offers shopping, fun food options, or even a trip to the aquarium at the end of the pier. It will quickly become one of your favorite hangouts for a lazy Saturday or even after work drinks. When you’ve had enough salt & sand for the day, inch your way up the street to Manhattan Beach Brewing Company and choose from a countless list of draft beers. Or maybe take a seat on Simmzy’s patio for a burger and sweet potato fries instead. Shopping is next on the list. This area is sprinkled with cute small boutiques you’ll surely fall in love with. There is a nice mixture of stores— some more upscale, while others have more refreshing price tags. But wait… don’t go home yet! You can’t rule out this area at night. Shellback Tavern, Shark’s Cove, and Hennessey’s are all fun surf-infused bars that scream So Cal. Maybe a dive is more your scene? Check out Ercoles Bar for a game of pool and a mellow feel. Hungry? No problem. The Kettle is open 24 hours to help satisfy your late night cravings. The only downside is parking! Don’t lose track of time and forget to feed the meter. You don’t want your weekend outing ruined with a pricey parking ticket!
The best beach in Los Angeles

My Take: Manhattan Beach is my favorite beach in the Los Angeles area. Whether you go there to eat dinner, play some beach volleyball, tan in the sun, or just walk around the town, Manhattan Beach is full of things to do. The city is full of beautiful houses on the strand. You will see bikers on the bike path at all times of the day taking in the beautiful scenery. You will definitely have a fun filled day at Manhattan Beach because of all that it has to offer. The Scene: Manhattan is full of a variety of people who want to enjoy the beach. You will see the locals who want to surf and the tourists who come to enjoy the nice weather. People of all ages come to the beach because of the variety of things offered. There is definitely a relaxed vibe in the town but there are many fun things to do. Cocktails & Cuisine: There are a variety of places to eat in Manhattan Beach so there is something for everyone. Whether you are looking for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even a quick snack, Manhattan Beach has all types of food. There are also many bars that are popular with different age groups, especially Baja Sharkeez for the college kids. There are also some nicer restaurants that draw in the older crowd. Prices: Manhattan Beach is free to visit but you will most likely have to pay to park. You can find metered parking along the many streets or pay in the variety of parking structures. It will cost you about two dollars or so for two hours. Keep in mind that it can be very difficult to find parking, especially during the summer or a warm day around lunchtime. The restaurants around the beach vary in price from cheap to pricey, so there is something for everyone. There is also a lot of boutique and shops around that vary in price range. What to wear: Beach wear! Regardless of the weather, you will see people surfing and enjoying the beach in their swimsuits or wet suits. People are generally dressed more casually because of the beach town, but you will see some dressed up for the nicer restaurants. However, almost anything goes at Manhattan Beach due to the relaxed vibe of the town. Insider Info/When to Go: The beach is the most crowded during the summer when the weather is warmer and the ocean has heated up a bit. However, you will see people at all times of the year due to Los Angeles’ beautiful weather. Make sure to get to the beach early if it is a warm day because it is sure to be crowded. The restaurants are generally always crowded around lunchtime, so make sure to get there early.
My favorite beach in LA

This has to be my favorite beach in LA! Parking is a hassle, but is always worth it in the end. If you’re lucky, there are two parking lots right by the pier; otherwise there are plenty of parking garages. Manhattan Beach just feels much cleaner and less crowded than other beach destinations. The beach is quite wide with plenty of volleyball courts. There are also plenty of trashcans. The boardwalk is phenomenal! Good for a run or stroll, this boardwalk borders some of the nicest houses in town. They’re always fun to admire. Plenty of food options too by the pier with a variety of price ranges. The Manhattan Pizzeria is a must, and you can just show up in your swimsuit and order from outside. Manhattan Beach is by far the most idyllic and stereotypical Southern California beach.
Best Beach In LA

My Take: Manhattan Beach is hands down my favorite beach to go to in Los Angeles. It is one of the three beach cities in the South Bay and is located south of El Segundo and north of Hermosa Beach. It is a hot spot for beach volleyball, surfing, and tanning. The Pier is fun to walk up and down and do a little shopping or catch a bite to eat. There is also a great bike/rollerblading/running path that is near the sand making it convenient to take a stroll along the beach and enjoy the views. It isn’t nearly as touristy as Venice or Santa Monica beach, making it much cleaner and the sand is actually white! One day it can be buzzing with locals and the next it can be quiet and serene. The Scene: Manhattan Beach attracts a diverse crowd, but not as diverse as say Venice or Santa Monica beach. This beach tends to be more family friendly and attracts more of a chill, local crowd. However, parking on the weekends during the afternoon can get hectic so make sure you bring a lot of quarters with you! Cocktails & Cuisine: Manhattan Beach offers a huge array of stores, restaurants and bars. I guarantee that there will be something that you will enjoy! And, everything is within walking distance. You can even take a long walk on the strand to its neighboring beach, Hermosa. Prices: Again, with the huge variety of places to choose from, there is something that will meet everyone’s budget! What to wear: People are typically dressed in beach attire but usually in a more fashion forward sense. Girls might have on jean shorts and a cute beach top or be wearing Lulu lemons. The guys are typically dressed in board shorts and t-shirt. Insider Info/ When to go: You don’t have to travel all the way to Beverly Hills to see “celebrities.” Not many people know that Manhattan Beach is home to a lot of professional athletes and a few movie stars- from the likes of Daniel Tosh, Blake Griffin, Lane Kiffen, Maria Sharpova, Landon Donovan, Jason ‘Wee Man’ Acuna (from Jackass), and Pete Carol.
