If you're looking for an extraordinary sushi restaurant - or an extraordinary Japanese restaurant for the matter - then this is the place. Despite the low prices, you still get quality food and quality service. The taste of the sashimi is to die for, and the rolls are often times better than in other restaurants, even if their prices are lower. The atmosphere is nice, cozy, and laid back, and what's even more amazing about this place is that the service is so high-end and everyone is so personable and amiable. If you want a good place to eat sushi, then go nowhere else; this is your place to eat.

Just because it's not "Katsuya" by itself doesn't mean it's lesser value or quality. This place is equally as good with even better service than the nearby Katsuya itself. Prices are much more reasonable and the food is legitimately the exact same. It's not as much of a scene but I like that better than the up-tight, noisy atmosphere you'd find at Katsuya. Get the same food, a more relaxed environment, and fab service - what else do you need for a night of great sushi?

Definitely one of my favorite go-to sushi restaurants in LA! The food is just as amazing as Katsu-ya, but cheaper and a faster meal! If you're not in the mood to get dressed up for Katsuya but want the same tasty and appetizing food, go to Izaka-ya! The atmosphere is more chill, but still trendy! The service is great- the waitresses and chefs are always so nice. Also, keep your eyes open for celebrities, as I've been lucky enough to spot a few when I go! *Must try spicy tuna on crispy rice*

This is one of my favorite sushi spots, if not my actual favorite sushi spot in LA. I absolutely adore their Manhattan Beach location as well. Their menu is very similar to Katsuya (LA Live, Hollywood), but I personally think it is better, and it's also a lot cheaper while keeping the same level of quality. I love their spicy yellow tail roll with avocado. The atmosphere is really relaxed and everyone who works there is friendly. I definitely recommend Izakaya!

I've been to a couple different locations and for some reason this is always the best one. There's a lot of other sushi restaurants on 3rd but Izaka-ya is consistently good and has such a relaxed atmosphere! Sitting at the bar is always the best, and the chefs are always friendly and helpful.

This restaurant has amazing sushi- the same quality as Katsuya but less expensive. They have so many different options and everything you order you will enjoy. There are lots of options even if you don't like sushi so it's a great place to go with friends. It's usually busy but your food comes quickly and is always fresh and delicious. It is less fancy than Katsuya and is more of a casual atmosphere. There are a couple different locations of this restaurant but I'm sure you'll enjoy whatever one you go to. Overall, the Izaka-ya is a great restaurant.

Why do I love Izaka-ya on 3rd Street? Well for one their fish is outstanding. I've never had a bad piece and the sushi chefs clearly know what's up. The place itself is very homey. Soft lighting, wooden chairs, small sushi bar, etc. It's really just one open room. But ultimately, I love Izaka-ya because of the hot girls that are always there! I don't think I've ever been inside the place when there hasn't been a group of 3 or 4 just smoking hot chicks. There's just something about that place that always brings them in. Furthermore - I ALWAYS see celebs there. I saw Jamie King once and another time I sat right next to Amber Heard at the sushi bar! Obviously not in the hot girl department, but I also saw Warren Sapp there once take down the entire menu. Overall, love Izaka-ya in Beverly Grove. Great sushi, hot girls, what more could you want???

I come to Izaka-ya ALL the time. Usually it's with my girls, but I've also been on a few dates here as well. I just think the place is really cute. The best seats are either right by the windows so you can see all the people walking down third street or right at the sushi bar, where if you're really nice, they might give you a few freebies! Last time I was there I tried their crispy rice roll - it's pretty much to die-for. Also, they have this blue fin tuna that completely blew me away. The date I was with wasn't the best, but the food more than made up for it :)

The Izaka-ya on 3rd Street by the Beverly Center is one of the best sushi places in Los Angeles, hands-down. I love sushi, but am really picky about what I eat. The Izaka-ya sushi chefs prepare fish that tastes so fresh and delicious that it's worth the money you spend to eat it (not a cheap place to bring a date). The Crispy rice spicy tuna is bomb as is the salmon. Heads up - two downsides to the restaurant: The Wait....I've been here a few times now and have never even come close to being seated right away, even with a reservation. The Noise: It can get pretty loud inside with everyone talking and whatnot. And the tables are pretty close together so it probably wouldn't be a good place to discuss anything private. That said, the food is definitely worth that wait and if you're looking for great sushi, this is definitely a place I'd recommend.

Izakaya on 3rd Street is just solid. You can always expect to have a good meal here. Izakaya is reasonably small. It is an open one room restaurant which fits about 50 people. The sushi bar is in the back of the room. The clientele is somewhat upscale. There are usually some cute girls in groups here and a bunch of couples. The place is typically packed --- given the popularity of the restaurant and its size. I once ate next to Warren Sapp (former NFL player) and his family. No joke, he ordered the entire menu. The prices are somewhat expensive but reasonable given the quality of the fish.

I came with a group for a dinner here despite not being a sushi eater at all. This means that I was inevitably headed towards some chicken teriyaki. Everyone I was with raved about the sushi, so if you are looking to impress sushi lovers, this is a great spot. The place is crowded and we had to wait a long time even though we had a reservation so from my perspective it wasn't worth it, but the general consensus was very positive. The chicken teriyaki was quite good and a healthy portion as well.

Izaka-ya is probably my favorite sushi spot in LA. It happens to be very convenient to where I live but regardless, the food here is awesome. Similar menu as the “famous” Katsu-ya but the prices are much more reasonable. Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna and the Crispy Rock Shrimp are two of my favorite items on the menu but all of their sushi is fantastic. They have a big selection of sake as well. Just make sure you make a reservation in advance…this place gets packed and can be difficult to get a table unless you plan in advance. You’ll also see the occasional celebrity dining in here as well.

I know, it's a bold statement. That means it's there with Sushi Gen, Sushi Go 55, Hamasaku, Wa, Sushi Zo, and Urasawa, but it blows away Matsuhisa and they're within walking distance of each other. When you walk in, you're given the usual greeting by the sushi chefs and waitstaff. The room is one large area with the sushi bar in back seating about 10 people and tables strewn throughout the rectangular space. I highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar and letting the chefs do their thing. The two best are Brian and Matt and they're simply wizards with what they do to raw fish. I'm a little biased because this place is around the corner from my home, but I still say it goes toe to toe with some of the best in the city.
