My Take: Rok Sushi Kitchen is definitely a fun and delicious sushi restaurant. Whether you are going for happy hour or a nice dinner with your friends, you will enjoy your time there. I personally like going to Rok Sushi Kitchen for a later dinner before going to the bars in Hermosa because of its location near the pier. The sushi is fresh, the drinks are good, and the location is great. I recommend everyone check out Rok Sushi Kitchen for a good meal. The Scene: The restaurant has a variety of different people that come there to enjoy the food and drinks. Everyone from families to young professionals after work to college students coming to eat before a night out can be found at the restaurant. Since the restaurant can be a bit pricier, there is generally an older crowd, 20s and up. There is also a DJ that has a booth above the sushi bar. He manages the music the whole night, which gives the restaurant more of a fun vibe. Cocktails & Cuisine: The restaurant is unique in the sense that while it is a sushi restaurant, they also have a pasta section for those who aren’t sushi fans. The menu has a variety of options that appeal to a variety of people. They also have a good drink menu with cocktails, wine, and beer. The kitchen has quite a few specialty rolls, which are my favorite. The sushi is fresh and worth the price. Prices: The prices of food and drinks are moderate. They have a happy hour Monday-Saturday from 4:30 pm- 6:30 pm and a “Late Night” Sunday from 9 pm- close. Happy hour offers discounts on drinks, appetizers, and sushi. I recommend ordering several different rolls and sharing them with your friends, otherwise your meal can get pricey if you are not there for happy hour. What to wear: Located in Hermosa, the atmosphere is definitely more relaxed. Rok Sushi Kitchen is a nice restaurant so most people will be wearing casual dress clothes. Girls will be wearing anything from skirts to jeans and heels and guys will also be in jeans or shorts and a nice shirt. But it is still a relaxed beach town, so just about anything you would wear to a restaurant is appropriate. Many people may be a bit dressier because they want to go bar hopping along the beach after dinner. Others may be more casual at lunchtime if they want to visit the beach after their meal. Insider Info/When to Go: The best time to go is happy hour when food and drinks are offered at a discount. The busiest times are on the weekends, but you can make a reservation by phone or online to skip the wait. They are open for lunch as well as dinner, so anytime you are hungry and want some good sushi, head over to Rok Sushi Kitchen. The happy hour deals are definitely worth it, so try and make it to one of their options to get a discount.
