Pan African Film Festival Description

Pan African Film Festival - Arts Festival | Poetry / Spoken Word | Screening in Los Angeles.

The Pan African Film Festival (PAFF) is an annual cultural movie celebration held in February at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza (BHCP) in Los Angeles. Located in Baldwin Hills, a southwestern neighborhood of Los Angeles, BHCP is a recently renovated shopping center that features a state of the art, fifteen-theater cinema.

Started in 1992, the Pan African Film Festival features screenings of over 150 different films and draws over 35,000 visitors each year. Films and visitors alike hail from countries around the world. The theme of the festival is the celebration of films dealing with African culture and people of African descent, as well as the promotion of racial tolerance. In addition to the screenings, the Pan African Film Festival also offers special events such as an opening night gala and a closing night party. Past films screened at the Pan African Film Festival include Donovan’s Echo and Owen ‘Alik Shahadah’s 500 Years Later.
