Steve Aoki's Birthday Bash Description

Steve Aoki

International EDM star Steve Aoki celebrates his birthday with a crowd full of fans at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

The rise of American electronic dance music (EDM) owes a lot to Steve Aoki. Born in Miami in 1977, Steve Aoki has become a living legend to young electronic musicians all over the world through his work as an electro house artist, producer, and the founder of the LA based record label Dim Mak Records.

After founding Dim Mak Records in 1996, Aoki became an icon in the electronic music industry, releasing music by headlining artists like MSTRKRFT, Klaxons, and The Bloody Beetroots. Aside from his work with Dim Mak, Aoki is both a DJ and an active club promoter. In collaboration with Blake Miller from Moving Units, Aoki remixes popular songs under the name Weird Science.

Steve Aoki released his debut mix album Pillowface and His Airplane Chronicles in January 2008 featuring artists like Justice, Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand, Santogold, Uffie, and Mickey Avalon. Pillowface and His Airplane Chronicles made Aoki an instant star as a solo artist and debuted on the Billboard Electronic Chart at number 15. The 2010 single “I’m in the House” with will.i.am continued Aoki’s international rise and made it to number 29 on the UK Singles Chart during its debut week.

Aoki released his solo album Wonderland in 2012 with guest appearances by a wide range of artists including LMFAO, Travis Barker, Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, and even Big John Duncon of the hardcore punk band The Exploited. The album became a global club hit and Aoki has continued his big name collaborations through projects with electronic giants Afrojack and Tiësto.

Steve Aoki is a favorite at nightclubs around the world and especially on college campuses. Aoki is one of the hardest working artists in the business and tours for an average of 250 shows a year. Tickets to see Steve Aoki live in concert sell out fast and his energetic show tends to pack out clubs with thousands of dancing EDM fans. Aoki continues to make big waves in the electronic music scene and he was even featured as a celebrity player in the video game NBA 2K9.
