Bars in Mid-Wilshire Overview

Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) - Museum in Mid-Wilshire, LA

Mid-Wilshire in Los Angeles is a bustling section of town that is home to a handful of high-rises, expansive condo buildings, and a few spots to grab a drink.

Bars in Mid-Wilshire aren’t the hippest haunts in L.A., but they are loved by locals who relish in the opportunity to drink booze within walking distance of their homes. Busby’s East is the most lively of the area’s watering holes, with multiple large sections to eat and drink in, a massive square bar, a bunch of TVs tuned to sports, karaoke nights, and a little smokers patio. But beware...Busby's does charge cover some nights. Call ahead to be sure.

Little Bar, just around the corner, is the opposite. Intimate, woody, and serving no liquor, the joint is a mix between a pub and a dive. The vibe here is relaxed and casual, without a trace of pretentiousness. It gets most crowded on trivia nights, when those who dwell nearby stop in to work their mental muscles.

For a true Mid-Wilshire pub experience, head to Tom Bergin's Tavern. Around since 1936, it’s a solid spot to order a pint of Smithwicks, catch the game, chat with some Irish transplants, and enjoy good times o’plenty.

Another Mid-Wilshire bar is Ray's & Stark Bar. Located at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and situated near the famous Urban Light installation, it’s the perfect place for a post-museum discussion over cocktails. Interestingly enough, the establishment is also lauded for the way it cooks octopus.
