In a city with great weather year-round, rooftop bars in Los Angeles are always a great bet. From the upscale rooftop cocktail lounge to the energetic sky-high beer garden, there is rarely a night in L.A. that isn’t perfect for sipping drinks on a swanky rooftop.
Although most Los Angeles rooftop bars can be described best by that very word, swanky, there is one that stands out as the best rooftop bar for a drunken good time. The Biergarten at the Standard Downtown is the hip take on the classic German beer garden. Although the wait staff is clad in the hipster version of lederhosen, the drinks are truly authentic German brews guaranteed to knock out even the most practiced of boozehounds after a few rounds.
While The Biergarten might offer the wild and crazy bar experience at soaring heights, there are plenty of rooftop bars in Los Angeles offering the chic and swanky side of sky-high drinking. The ABH at the Thompson is a perfect example of a spot where the Los Angeles elite gathers at the top of the world to sip pricey cocktails and take a dip in the Swarovski-encrusted pool.
Rooftop Bar at The Standard Downtown offers a similar swanky experience, although it tends to attract a slightly more professional and mellow crowd looking for a relaxing rooftop cocktail experience. For an even more unusual venue, check out High Rooftop Lounge at the Hotel Erwin. Although its Venice location might suggest a more bohemian crowd, the über-chic décor and high-priced cocktails attract the rich and beautiful looking to enjoy spectacular views and a mellow vibe.
Rooftop bars in Los Angeles are the perfect way to spend an evening enjoying warm breezes, spectacular views, and fancy cocktails. And with most of L.A.’s buildings offering a sky-high lounge of some sort, there is no shortage of Los Angeles rooftops to visit.
