Anyone yearning for a hopping bar that just so happens to be steps from their suite are in the right place when it comes to Los Angeles hotel bars, because this city has some of the most popular hotel bars in the country.
Of course, the best hotel bars aren’t just for guests but for everyone – or at least everyone who can pass the bouncer’s muster – and that certainly applies to LA hotel bars. The A-listers may have moved on, but the ultra-mod Rooftop Bar crowning The Standard Hotel Downtown still offers a swanky environment for sipping cocktails under the stars.
And though it may have lost a bit of its glitter over the past few years, there’s no doubt that The Tropicana in the Roosevelt Hotel still offers a picture-perfect Hollywood setting for afternoon cocktails, poolside partying, and late-night cavorting.
The swank gets turned up substantially at the SLS Hotel over in Beverly Hills, and the same can be said of the W Hotel’s sleek Living Room lounge, where entertainment industry shot-callers take meetings at the bar and socialites sip Manhattans on Wednesday afternoons.
Of course, no trek through all the great hotel bars in LA would be complete without visiting the famed Chateau Marmont. Modeled after a French villa, this is the place where John Belushi overdosed, Jim Morrison fell off the roof, and members of Led Zeppelin rode their motorcycles through the lobby, and its garden terrace always seems to be full of the who’s who of Hollywood.
