Santa Monica / Westside, Los Angeles –
One of the most popular wine bars in Santa Monica thanks to its unpretentious social scene, Bodega Wine Bar draws an irreverent crowd of young professionals and upscale Westside residents more interested in catching up with friends than analyzing the color density, nose, and finish of whatever’s in their wine glasses.
A self-proclaimed “anti-wine bar,” Bodega’s part swanky, part industrial décor perfectly reflects the low-key yet stylish guests and their laid-back attitude.
The spacious main room combines a raftered ceiling and spare wood tables with polished concrete floors, white leather stools, and long suede banquettes. The sleek-yet-rustic design continues with a translucent glass-and-wood bar backed by an exposed brick wall appropriately decorated with neat rows of suspended wine bottles.
Groups in the mood to relax and chat among themselves tend to gather on the banquettes in the four distinct alcoves branching off the main room, while couples in need of a more intimate environment can disappear into one of the bar’s many shadowy nooks.
Bodega Wine Bar isn’t all about chilling out, though – on Fridays and Saturdays, the mellow vibe gives way to a more boisterous atmosphere as DJs spin upbeat 80s remixes and hip-hop that get the dance floor moving.
Bodega’s outgoing clientele and relaxed attitude make it a great place to meet up with friends for a low-pressure evening during the week and a dance-filled night on the weekends.
