Shine London Description

Shine London - Running | Fitness & Health Event | Sports in London.

Every September, thousands of men, women, and children take part in a nighttime walking marathon and half marathon at Shine London. The event raises money for Cancer Research UK, specifically for translational research that helps make breakthrough discoveries in labs. Unlike many similar fundraisers, Shine London allows participants to choose where they want their money spent.

The Shine London 2013 marathon course passes by sensational city landmarks like The Gherkin, Royal Albert Hall, St. Paul’s Cathedral, The Globe, the MI6 Building, and the Houses of Parliament, among many others. Shine London participants bring bottles of water, money for food and other goodies, and cell phones to update their social media statuses, and wear bright colors to light up the night.

In 2013, Shine London registration costs £35. The full marathon starts at 8:15pm and the half marathon starts at 9:45pm. Check the Shine London website for more information.
