Borderline Information

Borderline - Live Music Venue in London.

When the current Borderline building, housed in London’s Westminster neighborhood, was constructed in 1976, it was a publishing house and was later home to the British Film Institute.

Ian Howard bought the building and refurbished it to accommodate a seating capacity of 300 people. He opened the Borderline around the 1990s when Britpop was rapidly gaining popularity throughout England. For years, Britpop artists drew inspiration from the music scene that the Borderline provided.

The Borderline was eventually acquired by Vince power in 2003, joining the Mean Fiddler’s chain of venues and is now owned by parent company, Mama Group.

Events at the Borderline have included performances by Cake, Muse, R.E.M, Vampire Weekend and the late Amy Winehouse.
