With its velvet ropes, snazzy door staff, and line of chic patrons, it’s hard to miss the entrance to Whisky Mist, a premier London lounge and club located just off to the side of Park Lane’s Hilton Hotel.

The sleek and shiny interior – done up in deep onyx punctuated by flashes of light, a decadent gold and glass bar, and the iconic stag that hangs above it – is divided into two areas, both crowded with a posh and affluent clientele.

The Main Room is dominated by a long bar that overlooks the table-bordered dance floor and the fashionable people reflected in the mirrored walls and ceiling, while the Luxe Room is reserved for members and VIPs and offers a slightly less hectic environment.

Despite its reputation as a sophisticated playground for an international set that includes members and guests from the worlds of media, music, fashion, sports, and royalty, Whisky Mist is refreshingly unpretentious and the patrons are clearly there to see, be seen, and thoroughly enjoy the party.

Tip from Adriana:

If you’re not on the guest list or with a Whisky Mist member, you can try to get in by dressing your best, arriving before 11pm, and talking to the booker out front about getting a table. For the cost of a bottle of vodka, you and your friends are guaranteed to make it inside.

  • Crowd

International, trendy, and affluent, 20s to 40s.

  • Entertainment / Music

Some of London’s best DJs play a great mix of chart-topping tunes and old favorites. Saturdays feature more hip-hop.

E-mail the club to book a table.

  • Prices

Cover charge £15. Beer £5.50, wine £35+/bottle, mixed drinks £11.

  • What to Wear / Dress Code

Club attire, glamorous but not too flashy.

  • Hot Nights / When to Go

Tuesday is the club’s “it” night, though Thursdays through Saturdays also draw good crowds.

A trendy London hot spot perfect for a classy night on the tiles

There is a reason that Whisky Mist can claim global celebrities and young members of the royal family amongst their clientele. It boasts a classy and comfortable décor while the music is guaranteed to keep you glued to the dance floor. Drinks are as expensive as you would find in any trendy London hotspot but you get the quality you pay for and the cocktails are fabulous. The bar staff are experts in their field and the bouncers are always friendly and affable. Book your name on the guest list and be sure to dress smartly to match the glamorous crowd.
Top shelf posh

I don't want to give this place an unfair shrift, but it is definitely not my kind of place. It's crowded, the lines are long, and drinks are expensive. The music is pretty awesome though (the night I happened to go, one half of Hot Chip was spinning). A friend of mine had been approached in the street near South Kensington station and told that she and her friends could get in. The promoter's sales pitch happened to include such illustrious facts as "Jay-Z was here last night" and "We host basketball stars all the time," so she took the bait, got us all dressed up, and we got into the VIP room, no problem. But the venue is decidedly posh, so unless that's your thing, I wouldn't recommend it.
