Movida is an ultra-trendy West End club packed to the rafters every night with a posh international clientele of Europeans, Americans, and Middle-Easterners.
In fact, it would be hard to miss the massive crowd that clamors nightly outside the club’s doors, distinctly divided into four separate lines labeled VIP, Tables, Guest List, and Strays – the latter, unfortunately, with little hope of getting in.
Those who do make it through the doors, however, will be met by a décor by renowned designer Samy Chams, whose interiors juxtapose 1920s glamour and modern urban chic.
The main bar and club area is lush with polished wood floors, sultry black leather couches, stainless steel tables with retro stools, and raised platforms strewn with private tables and sofas.
Decadent purple and pink lighting illuminates the bar as mirrored walls reflect the highly fashionable outfits of the elegant crowd, while the intricately arched ceilings and deep earth tones in the restaurant provide an intimate setting for dinner and pre-club drinks.
Although it’s quite the high-end venue, Movida's welcoming staff and oft bottle-drunken clientele help make the all-out extravagant party atmosphere perfect for a fantastic night of dancing.
A diverse international mix of European bankers, media types, and celebrities, all quite posh, 20s to 30s.
DJs play funky house in the main room and electro in the VIP room. House DJ Kevin O’Leary was the winner of London’s Best DJ award in 2006. The club also hosts many famous guest DJs.
European fusion menu with French, British, and Italian influences served nightly 8pm–midnight, with a smaller menu available until 3am.
Appetizers include smoked salmon, crab cocktail, salad, tuna sashimi, and beef carpaccio, while entrées include pasta, hamburgers, chicken, veal, duck, and fish.
Cover charge £20. Membership £500/year. Tables require £120 minimum/person. VIP tables £2000+, available on request. Appetizers £8+, pasta £10+, meat and fish entrées £12+.
Beer £5+, wine £6+, cocktails £12.50+, Dom Pérignon £200/bottle, Cristal £340/bottle.
Smart casual to dressy. Dress code: no sneakers. Men can wear jeans, but should accompany them with a jacket. Dresses and heels for women.
Wednesday and Friday nights are the most popular. Those on the guest list should arrive between 11pm and midnight. Last entry at 2:15am.
